Why make a showbag?
Many writers maintain a journal. This is where they jot down phrases, words and ideas.
In addition to just words, it can be helpful to collect artifacts and items which physicalise the research and inspiration process.
This process is also known as scrapbooking. You may wish to begin a scrapbook to work parallel with your blog and writing project.
However, as a class, we will take a tactile, collector's approach to this task.
Each student will make a showbag in order to create a physical collection. You will decorate your showbag with words and images associated with your Passion Project.
Each lesson you may add a small item to this showbag: a postcard, a printed-out image, a sketch, a drawing, a prayer rolled up in a scroll, a photograph, a new word on a scrap of paper, a poem you have copied out ... for each item you gather, try to feel a tangential connection to the words, ideas and images you are beginning to crate for your Passion Project.
